You’re New Here…

… Well so am I ! After pretty much a life time of being my biggest enemy of progress , labelling myself as ‘a writer that doesn’t like to share’ and just masking my potential , I’ve FINALLY decided to start up my blog. It wasn’t easy & I can most definitely say it’s been a journey but I’m happy we finally got here. I guess the issue was I was waiting to be ‘perfect’ or ‘perfect’ my writing. The reality is , I’m not there yet and that‘s okay. I’d also be lying if I said I’d be giving you a perfectly planned out, structured , themed blog.

What will I give you? An honest blog. The realisation gradually came to me that my hesitation didn’t stem from just nerves or lack of confidence. The hesitation stemmed from the reality that I’d have to be open and vulnerable with my audience. Some write to conceal & some write to reveal & I was constantly afraid of being judged by what my writing could potentially reveal. I’d also like to point out that I am not a professional. I’m still open to learning , adapting and elevating in the ‘writing world’ . True learning to me is in the journey as opposed to the destination , so maybe my style of writing will change & improve through this process. One thing I will say is a student can easily become a teacher but a teacher never stops being a student - we never stop learning.

My biggest intention:

More than anything, I really want to create a platform where more than one voice is heard. Had I have discovered a platform where I could publicly or anonymously post my own work, it would’ve given me a stronger incentive to push myself to promote my own writing. The blog is an outlet for you as much as it is for me & so I am more than happy to post your work, set up writing challenges/exercises & just be a listening ear for anyone in need. It’s an encouragement to put pen 2 paper as opposed to bottling it up.

Don’t think, just write.
